Your students will FLIP FOR FLASHLIGHT FRIDAY!!!
Each student has their own mini flashlight (easy to hold while reading).

These little babies were perfect for our reading time!
We shut off all the lights and closed the blinds to create the right ambiance!
I don't think it's been this quiet in my room all year! (just saying!)
They were so excited they could barely stand it, but they got right to reading!
They BEGGED me for extra reading time!
It was so awesome to see them spread all over the room enjoying their books.
They weren't very happy to return their flashlights to the box, but it will be great motivation for reading!
Flashlight Friday will be a weekly event that I KNOW my students will look forward to! I'm sure they'd love to use those flashlights everyday, but it will make Fridays extra special!
I can't wait until next week! (No one will be absent on Fridays! haha)

DeleteI love this idea! I'm thinking it might be a good idea to find some reasonably priced wind up flashlights-my students would love those and they may end up being cheaper than replacing batteries! Thanks for sharing your great idea!

DeleteLove this idea - love that you put a sign out. Your students will not want to miss Fridays for sure. I need the Dollar Tree near my house to hurry up and open so I can constantly run out and pick up things as they pop into my head (and by that I mean - pop into my head while I read blogs : ) )

Thanks for the shout out! You can also by the flashlights through Oriental Trading's website. They're about $7 for a dozen. Also, I usually buy batteries in bulk from Home Depot. I think I got them for $13 for 40 batteries. It looks like your kiddos had a blast with it! I might have to change my Flashlight Friday to Flashlight Thursday. We have library on Fridays this year and it's tough to fit it in with library.
