Whoop Whoop it's Saturday!
Check these out! These are FINGER FLASHLIGHTS!
Each little flashlight has a rubber strap that fits around your finger to hold in place. I don't think they're really supposed to be used for reading, but you know me, I make everything "fit" in my classroom!
Guess what??!! I don't only use them for Flashlight Friday! I use them in my guided reading groups too! It just adds a little more fun and gets them excited to be called to my table.

Great for tracking~finding text evidence~cause & effect~character traits~vocabulary!
Endless possibilities and perfect for all ages!
"Shine your light on the text evidence that shows the main character feels unwanted."
You know how fast those lights shine on the page??!!
It's just way more fun to find answers with flashlights!
I hope you had a wonderful week! Please link up any lessons, ideas, tips, tricks, incentives, ANYTHING you do get your students motivated or excited!

I changed Flashlight Friday (read about that here) up a little this week and we used the finger flashlights instead...they LOVED it! These two girls read a book together (even though it's silent reading, they were able to track if the other was finished with their flashlight). Pretty clever right?
Independent Reading is the highlight of our day EVERYDAY, but especially on Fridays with these treats!

I've picked up a few here and there to build my collection. I started out with two sets and just using them for my reading groups when I taught reading intervention a few years ago. I wanted to get them motivated about having to go to additional reading time twice a week. I've seen them before at Hobby Lobby and on the end caps of grocery stores aisles. If you've seen these somewhere recently, please leave a comment. :)

These are so much fun! I have used them before in guided reading groups to "put the spotlight on" important words, evidence, etc. I love the idea of using them during reading time! Thank you!

Such a great idea! We'd have to have a few minutes of play time first to keep them on task during reading...but I'd love to try this. I'll be on the lookout for these flashlights.

These look like lots of fun and I would try them if my boys didn't have to be so "cool". Also, as an aside, I like how you label your pictures with your blog name! I always learn something new from you - thank you!
