Mentor Text: The Best of Times

It's Sunday and that means it's time to link up with the cuties for their dangerous Must Read Mentor Text Linky! It's dangerous because you will want to buy all of the books that are blogged about today!

I know this book has been blogged about before, but I want to share how I plan to use it this week. The Best of Times is a creative book to teach times tables through strategies, rhymes, and colorful, funny illustrations.
Perfect to talk about the multiplication properties!

I think this song will be a hit! Multiplication Properties to One Direction's tune Beautiful!
This is a real world example of commutative property using chocolate chip cookies!

We made a foldable for their interactive notebooks. I used the template from the incredible Erin at I'm Lovin' Lit!
Click the foldable to download for FREE!

I also plan to use these anchor charts from Step into Second Grade as a quick review tomorrow. I will have all four (two shown) of the properties hung around the room and allow students to write an example on each chart.

With all of these activities my students should have a better grasp of multiplication properties!

I'm linking up this math mentor text and activities that I plan to use with my funny friend Jennifer for her Peek at My Week Linky-this linky definitely holds me accountable! :O)

Have a super week friends!

  2. I don't think I have this book. I'm going to have to look to see if our library has it for next week. We will be looking at multiplication toward the end of next week. Thanks for the suggestion and the freebie.
