It's Friday! I'm linking up with Kacey for Five for Friday to share my week!
I had my Mother's Tea this morning! It was beautiful and memorable! It is such an emotional event, which is why I'm so exhausted tonight! We all cry like babies! It's a lot of work, but it's a tradition in my classroom that I started 14 years ago and the moms and students really do appreciate it. Everyone gets dressed up and so excited! I was so proud of my students today! They were so well behaved, helpful, and kind to all the mothers.
Here is a table of 4.
I had 30 guests, so I have three tables for four and three tables for six. I have 26 students, so it was a little tight, but you'd never know I had almost 60 people in this little classroom. I think because it's a fancy tea party everyone thinks they're in a library-everyone had such nice conversations at their tables!
All of the food is set up on each table, but the drinks are served at the back table. (The children have to wait on their Moms!) They are also instructed to give their moms backrubs too! :O)
Each mom receives a carnation flower when they arrive at the door...thank you Winn-Dixie!
Some happy moms! Of course, we all have less make up than we started with! I have a pack of tissues at each table setting! My students said the sweetest, most tender words to their moms...I was an emotional wreck! If you read Tuesday's post and saw some of the writing samples they gave to their mothers, you understand!
On a lighter note, we had a great week at my school for Teacher Appreciation Week! Every day we we received a treat! Homemade waffles, delicious desserts, snacks and sodas, and today we had stuffed shells for lunch-so delish! And, we each got a spin on the wheel-I won a faculty meeting pass, but traded it for a wear jeans for a week pass! Score!
Guess what? My Motion-Activated Treat Dispenser arrived at JCPenney! Yay! It's pretty big! Even though I got it on clearance I'll make up the difference in the cost it will take to fill it!!!! haha! It has four settings: small and medium handfuls, small bowl, and POWER FILL! I can't wait to try this baby on Monday-I know my kids will go crazy over this!
Speaking of kids getting excited...don't forget to link up tomorrow for Spark Student Motivation Saturdays! I know we're at the end, but are you doing in your class to keep that spark or just plain happy??!! Your idea can be anything that gets your students excited, motivated, or interested in learning! Hope to see you there!
I've just found you from the Five for Friday linky! I love the look of your blog--it's pretty similar to mine. My co-worker has that treat dispenser and she loves it. I'm thinking of getting one for next year. Major score on the jeans for a week pass! I would love that!
