Linking up with Amanda & Stacia for Mentor Texts! So many great ideas in one spot! This week's topic is math. I'd like to share these one minute math mysteries. They're a great opener for a math lesson or if you have a few minutes in between subjects. Each mystery is written on one page and the solution and illustration is on the back. They're appropriate for 3rd-6th grade. I've included a sample.
It brings a lot of discussion to your groups/class when trying to figure out the mysteries. The best part is your students will realize why they need the math skills you've taught them to solve these mysteries! I show them on the document camera/projector and let my students work in groups to solve. I purchased my copy from Amazon.
Go check out Collaboration Cuties' mentor text linky-it's filled with great ideas from great teachers!

Oh I have this one for Science! I didn't realize they made it for Math as well, a must have! I thought about you today when my brother and I were driving to Palm Coast to meet my mom for Mother's Day lunch and we passed through your city! Hope you had a great Momma's Day!

Teaching with a Touch of Twang
Sounds like a fun book. I really like the length of the stories. Great for keeping down time to a minimum.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
